David And The Five Stones
1 Samuel 17:45-50
David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him
I was also facing my giant and really needed the Lord to help me. As I was sitting there, just meditating on this word, I felt like He assured me that I too had picked up my stones in preparation for this battle, just as David did. I had about 5 scriptures pertaining to my situation that I was standing on. But it was one word spoken in faith and confidence in my God that was needed in my time of prayer to slay this giant. Jesus is the Word and He is the Rock. His Word spoken in faith will be like that stone that sinks into the giant’s forehead and then falls face down.
Isaiah 55:11 My word that goes forth from My mouth; shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Psalm 18:31-32 For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect.
Prayer
Thank You Lord that we don’t have to fight the difficulties that we face alone but that You are with us and lead us into triumph. We don’t have to give in to any intimidating situation but we can speak Your Word believing that it will not return to You void and will accomplish the victory for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
